| 1930's
Bohemian Satin-Glass Flowers Necklace; lovely
spring-like necklace dating from the 1930's, Bohemian in
origin and made from satin glass, which was a speciality
of the Bohemian bead-making industry, a combination of opaque and
translucent glass; this is a wonderful surviving piece from the
period featuring soft blue twisted glass beads and clusters of flowers
and flower spacers made to look like ruffles, interspersed with their
original glass spacer beads - the necklace is on its original
brass wire and I can see there has been just one repair to the
necklace which is a jump-ring near the clasp which has been replaced and
is in silver as opposed to the original brass - everything else on this
necklace is in excellent vintage condition. The necklace measures approx.
17 inches/ 43.5cm. £55.00 |

Crystal Set Necklace; a stunning piece, Bohemian in origin,
approximately 1930's to 1940's in date - the metal is brass
filigree, some of which has developed a darkened patina over time
and with use which is in line with the age of the piece; the piece features

by its quality - all the crystal and components would appear to be original
to the piece and are where they are supposed to be - this is a
lovely, rare and spectacular old piece of jewellery with lots of detail

| 1930's/ 40's Bohemian Millefiore
Glass Bead Necklace - Remodelled and restrung on Beadalon
Professional; the original strand of beads was in a desperate
state and consisted of only the focal beads on some rather horrid old
stringing - I added the small topaz coloured glass spacers
which are correct approximate to the time of manufacture and the place
of manufacture of the focal beads - these are Bohemian in
origin. I have also added new matte rocailles/ seed beads
and gold-filled beadcaps - keeping the beads apart from
each other in this way is one of the best ways of protecting them; the
clasp is original to the focal beads and the restringing has been done
using Beadalon Professional. These striking deep blue glass beads are
decorated with partial Bohemian-glass maker style millefiore decoration
(over about half of the bead) - the largest bead measures approx. 25x15mm,
smallest around 10x7mm, the necklace measures approx. 29½ inches/
75cm. £58.00 |

| 1930's Bohemian Foiled Green
Speckled Glass Bead Necklace; this is a lovely necklace in a pretty
apple-green, the main beads (the centre 7) are silver-foiled over
which has been laid speckles of multi-coloured glass which has
been overlaid with clear glass, giving a 'window' effect to the beads
- all the other beads are speckled with multi-coloured flecks of glass
- this is called 'frit' and these sort of beads were called 'end of day'
beads where the beadmaker would use the bits of glass that fell around
him or her, reflecting the colours that he or she had been using during
the day - the largest bead measures approx 13mm, the smallest beads measure
approx. 5mm and the necklace measures approx. 17½ inches/ 44.5cm;
it is finished with its original Bakelite/ early plastic screw-type
clasp - the stringing appears to be clean and new. £40.00 |
